Kim Epperson, RN, BSN has been with RCID Research since 2004 as the Lead Clinical Research Coordinator. She previously worked at Wesley Long Hospital on the telemetry/surgical unit for 18 years.

She graduated from Lynchburg General School of Nursing in 1986 with a Diploma in Nursing and then graduated in 2010 with a BSN from UNCG. She helped to develop the RCID Community Advisory Board for the research patients in 2007, which eventually included the Ryan White sponsored community advisory board. She remains an active member of the board.

Marlene Allen began working for Cone Health in 1991 and began working as a Research Associate at RCID in 2000.  Her roles include laboratory manager and regulatory coordinator.  She is also a field representative with the AIDS Clinical Trials Group.


Marlene graduated from UNC Greensboro with a B.A. in Psychology

Charles Hansen, MA, CCRC has been the Clinic Research Manager since 2017.  During the previous 35 years, he worked in research related positions, including serving as the Research Director for the AHEC/Graduate Medical Education programs in internal medicine, family medicine and pediatrics since 2004.  He has an MA in sociology from UNCG with a strong background in research methods and statistical analyses. He has provided research and administrative support for RCID clinical trials since 1980 and has maintained certification as a clinical research coordinator for 26 years
